Data decode (OT)

David Christ

The new decode display feature now being implemented on the P3
parallels something I just ran across.

50 years ago the Navy had a unit designated the AN/UGA-3(XN-1) which
took a 1000 Hz International Morse signal from a receiver and
translated it to Baudot  code so it could be printed by a standard
Teletype machine.  Accepted from 10 to 120 WPM Morse.  It weighed
over 100 pounds.  No tubes but over 240 semiconductors.

If curious there is a picture and link at <http://www.navy-radio.com/morse.htm>

Shows how far we have come in making things smaller and lighter.
