As a product manager for a manufacturing company, I'm finding the whole K3 launch/introduction process very interesting, and I've learned a lot from it. I talk about it every day at work among my peers. Elecraft's customer expectations have been varied, from total understanding and patience to near anger for "misrepresentation of promises," to order cancellation (the ultimate in customer opinions). I regret not having the foresight to write a white paper about the process from the beginning when the K3 was announced.
I am saving my money and selling a few things to build up for a K3 purchase someday in the future. Until then, I'll keep learning from the reflector group, including those who are highly disappointed and those that are highly satisfied (and everyone in between!) In the meantime, I have been doing lots of analysis of K3 design to learn as much as I can about the radio I'll own someday. (By the way, my expectation is that some day in the future when I have enough money to buy it, there will probably be a waiting line, so I'm not selling all of my capability to operate before receiving, building and testing my K3!)
Based on Tom, AK2B's description, I am a Believer. Not a Believer with "blinders" or with "blind faith," but a Believer none-the-less. Obviously, I'm not an "early adapter," but I am a Believer in Elecraft and its products. My KX1, K1 and K2 are incredible rigs. My K3 will be as well!
Hang in there, Elecraft!
Oh, and thanks to EVERYONE who contributes to this reflector!
