Desk Mike for K3

Allan Taylor
I have noted a few posts regarding the microphone and connector for
the K3. Those mentioned are either
hand mikes or Pro-Set type mikes. What I really want is a desk mike. I
don't know the Kenwood line and,
frankly, have little experience with microphones in general but am
moving cautiously that direction.

In other words, is there a stock Kenwood desk microphone that will
work with the K3. It would need a PTT
button, of course.

If the Kenwood desk mic includes a preamplifier or electret
element it will not be compatible with the stock Elecraft mic
connections.  You will need to open the Foster plug on the
Kenwood mic and move the wire on pin 5 (Kenwood bias) to pin
6 (Elecraft bias) or install batteries in the base of the
Kenwood deck mic.

The MC-60A (with preamplifier turned off) and the MC-90 are
"pure" dynamic desk mics that should require no modification
to work with the K3.
