Diversity Mode Setup

Joel Black-2
I went through the archives through March of last year and cannot find
an answer to my question, so here goes...

I finally got an antenna connected to the KRX3.  I went through the
operation for diversity mode and I *think* I have this setup right, but
I cannot tell if it's actually receiving or not.  From page 45 of the
KRX3 Installation/Operation Manual:  I hold SUB for 2 seconds and I get
the "LINK" indication.  If I hit it for 2 seconds again, I get UNLINK;
however, the manual states that the kHz decimal point on VFO A should
blink.  Well, it doesn't, but the kHz decimal point for VFO *does* blink.

Further down on that page, it states that I cannot turn on the preamp or
attenuator unless I hold BSET first.  I hold BSET and get "b SET" on the
display.  Whether I hit PRE or ATT, I get no indication that anything
has happened.

Even further down the same page (and I really don't understand this
part), it tells me I can select the antenna I am using on the sub
receiver.  It tells me to hold BSET and then tap ANT.  That works fine,
I can select either ANT1 or ANT2.  I have nothing connected to ANT2.  Is
this indicating which antenna the *main* receiver is using and not the
*sub* receiver?  I get the indication from the manual I am selecting the
*sub* receiver antenna which makes no sense to me because my sub
receiver is the BNC connector.

The manual also states that *holding* RX ANT will accomplish the same
thing as hold BSET and tapping ANT.  All I get when I hold RX ANT is
"SUB OFF."  However, if I just tap RX ANT, I get a RX indicator on the
display.

I'm really confused with this diversity mode, so please be gentle with me.

Thanks,
Joel - W4JBB

Re: Diversity Mode Setup

Cady, Fred
Hi Joel,
When you get used to the KRX3 it is a great addition to the K3.

Start with the VFO's UNLINKed. You have to hold SUB for about 2 seconds
after getting the LINK display. You'll then hear a beep and see the
DIVRSTY display and VFO decimal point flashing.

Just tap SUB to get out of diversity mode.

To set the PRE and ATT for the Sub receiver, turn it on first (tap SUB)
and then hold BSET. Then tap or hold PRE. You can also set the filter
widths in this mode.

Again, turn the SUB on before doing this. Then you should see MAIN or
AUX for the sub antenna displayed.

Turn the SUB on :-)

I got it.  Charlie, K4ZRJ, told me to hold the SUB button longer.  I did
and it went into diversity.

I was able to figure out the preamp and pad too after getting that done.

Thanks,
