Hello All,
Mr Hammond, N0SS, imformed me of my lack of calendar skills. His planned excursion is next weekend. Thus all you strays will get rounded up and branded! I need to get my TARDIS fixed. Kevin. Still chasing the problem with the SSB board.
1. Rig works fine with the SSB option removed and jumpers reinstalled. 2. 8V is present on pin 10 P1. 3. C42 was left out by my mistake, installed. 4. 8T at pin 3 P1 is only 7V DC. There is 2V AC present. 5. 6V out of the 78L06 fed by 8V is only about 1.75V DC, no AC present. 6. With the power turned up at all, radio will go into TR/RCV oscillations and show over current. I only allowed this for a second and have not tried again. With the power all the way down, it is fine. So, you can see that the 6V line is only 1.75V and that is probably why the front panel is not working with the SSB board in. No logic voltage to the digital chips. I am still tracing and scratching. Still cannot figure out how the 8T oscillations and 8V problems are related. Circuit is not that complex. Complex enough for this old brain I guess. ;-) Jess AE0CW _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Jess,
I suggest that you solve the voltage regulator problem first - it should be the easiest and several other problems may go away once that is corrected. The 6 volt regulator on the KSB2 board connects to C46, pin 8 of U4, pins 3 and 7 of U2, pin 8 of U3, and pin 20 of U1 - check all these locations for solder bridges to an adjacent pin or other PC board trace. Be certain all ICs on the KSB2 are oriented in their proper directions. You may also want to check D5 and D3 to be certain they are oriented properly (banded end 'up in the air'). What is the 8T voltage at P1 pin 3 with the KSB2 removed? Check both during transmit and receive. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > Still chasing the problem with the SSB board. > > 1.
