Hello,
Has anyone tried EL foil behind the LCD display on the K1? The display I have does allow some light through, so perhaps using a piece of this foil will work. Could the power inverter generate RF interference? If you've tried it, let me know how it went. Here's a source for the foil and driver: http://www.cooltronix.com/shop/ Thanks, Jason AC6XA __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hi
I have not tried it but there are some glow in the dark plastic sheets that once charged up with a flashlight will glow brightly for several hours. This is not the stuff you played with as a kid. This sheeting will put out some serious light for quite a while with only a few seconds charge time. A 3x5 card of this stuff will light up a room in complete darkness enough to read by. My thought would be to replace the K1 display with the one with the clear back and place a piece of this glow sheet behind the display. You probably recall mounting a big black neoprene spacer between the display
and the board (pg 21, Figure 5-7). That's got to come out first so that means removing the LCD. Hint: this is a project I'd put off for a little while.
