A couple of comments from this side of the pond.
The contest occurs on the same weekend as the RSGB Commonwealth contest (BERU) which runs from 1000z Saturday 11th to 1000z on the Sunday. I know this has no relevance for those who are not in the Commonwealth as they cannot have QSOs anyway, but it will certainly reduce participation in G land and VE/VK/ZL. BERU is a contest I usually dabble in as it allows me to work a few of the rarer countries. So for yet another year I will not be taking part in EQP. Sending S/P/C is fine for USA/Canada, elsewhere sending the Country is total redundancy as it can nearly always be deduced from the callsign. This is the silly anomaly which has grown into the CQ 160 contest these days, when the exchange is totally meaningless. Please make it S/P with nothing needed to be sent if you are not USA/Canada. The suggested frequencies are in line with the USA bandplans. Note that in region 1 7030 is the international QRP frequency and above 7040 is used by SSB. Only a few countries have access above 7100. 73 Dave G3YMC http://www.davesergeant.com _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. If you look at a complete contest calendar, you will find that there are multiple contests on every weekend of the year. For the past two years, I've participated in both the EQP and SOC contests, giving out info for both during the time they overlap. I've done the same in other contests that overlap. While it can be a bit confusing if the exchanges differ drastically, it always seems to work well for me. I seriously doubt that the EQP will reduce participation in the BERU. What is the exchange and how difficult would it be to participate in both? >Sending S/P/C is fine for USA/Canada, elsewhere sending the Country >is total redundancy as it can nearly always be deduced from the >callsign. RST is also (usually) redundant since almost everyone sends 599 - but (usually) more meaningful when one or both stations in a QSO are QRP. Think of both as "place holders" for an exchange of three pieces of info. >The suggested frequencies are in line with the USA bandplans. I'll be taking a serious look at the "suggested frequencies" and post more later. -- 73, Bob Patten, N4BP Plantation, FL E-Mail: [hidden email] Website: http://www.qsl.net/n4bp QRP ARCI #3412 SOC #1 ARS #799 SMIRK #6625 FISTS #7871 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
