Joe,
You can use almost any earbud from cheap one to the extreme costly ones. I like the Koss earbuds, model Plug. Sensitivity is 112dB, whereas most others are only 100 dB. They are comfortable to wear, unless your ears are very small Regards Nick, PA0NCV ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe W2KJ" <[hidden email]> To: "Elecraft" <[hidden email]> Sent: Monday, April 13, 2009 10:11 PM Subject: [Elecraft] Earbuds with KX1 > Fellow Elecrafters: > > Is anyone using earbuds with their KX1 and if so can they recommend a good > quality set that is comfortable when used in a portable environment??? > > Many thanks for any info/suggestions. > > 73, Joe W2KJ > I QRP, therefore I am > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

The Koss earbuds work well for me. You can get them at Radio Shack ... they'll have a RS logo on the package but look at the phones themselves and you'll see "Koss." Most earbuds have a sensitivity in the very low 100 dB range. Mine are listed at 112 dB. I lost a lot of my hearing a long time ago, and the KX1 doesn't have enough audio for me, however I found a small audio amp powered by two AA batteries [also at RS] that does the trick. It has one input and plugs right into the KX1. It has 3 outputs which is handy if you're out in public operating and someone wants to listen in. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2009 Cal QSO Party 3-4 Oct 2009 - www.cqp.org ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
