Happy 27th of August!
The wood is gradually filling the shed as we are shedding pounds.
Great way to get back into shape ;) Then wood does heat quite a few times
before it gets into the stove! The days in Western Oregon are getting
shorter and the critters are getting ready for winter. Elk season opened
this morning and the neighbors are all in camouflage stalking in the
woods. Our chainsaws and splitting maul kept them at bay.
The band came back nicely from the collisions with a few coronal mass
ejections. From what I've read on QRP-L the band is open into HI and
places west. Larry Makoski, W2LJ, is closing in on QRP WAS. If any of
you can give him AK or NV he would be most appreciative. While on that
note: ECN needs two states to attain its WAS. While not totally QRP it
would be nice to get DE and SD. DE is my last state for CW WAS so two
birds with one stone ;)
Tomorrow Mr. Hammond is off driving about so we may or may not hear
from him. He definitely will not be "catching the strays" as he puts it.
So if any of you wish to act as a relay station please holler and you have
control while you call a few CQ ECN. Now to get my hands to stop shaking
from using the splitting maul. That may make my fist a bit odd sounding;
luckily it is my left hand which is effected the most strongly. Typing is
harder than CW at this point.
