Good Evening,
Mozart's symphony #40 is playing in the background and snow is falling as I write this. The fire is warm; it heated us as we ate a bit of leftover turkey. Sam (the cat) is enjoying his portion as well. Hiking to the top of the mountain showed us the surrounding mountains were covered in snow but the valley was still green. Then the clouds rolled through our location so we could only see a few feet. But since we were on the logging road we could easily find our way home. If we had been hiking cross country we would have had a harder time of it. Tomorrow evening at 2400z the non-WARC bands will become silent only to awaken a few seconds later to my preamble. I always enjoy the last few moments of a contest as ops dig for their last contact. The bands are filled with CW. Then the silence. It is a great way to start ECN. That is also one of the reasons why we start at that time. The ionosphere has been recharged by all those signals flying forth and back. In this case DX should lengthen our reach just a little ;) One can never tell. Thirty meters was fun for me yesterday evening. I only hope forty meters is as good tomorrow evening. But the contest effect may ease the way there too :) It is perfect weather for me to work on my antennas! Some of you don't even start to raise or repair one until the temperatures fall below freezing. I must learn from you all and raise a 40 meter antenna replacement in a few inches of snow. They must work better if you all wait until inclement weather occurs to do your work ;) Might help me dig out one of those foxes. My performance of Mozart's #40 first movement is at http://www.opus131.com/music/mozart40.mp3 I played all the instruments separately on a Kurzweil PC88 keyboard to a sequencer and played them simultaneously to a Kurzweil PC2R synthesizer. To everyone, it's free for downloading with no forms, passwords or tracking. Please let me know if you like it, or otherwise. Well......I can't let the classical musicians dominate this thread :-)
. I am lead trumpet in a 16 piece Big Band. We play all the Big Band Classics from the 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's. I am almost the youngest at age 63. We have three who are 85. Some of our guys actually played with the likes of Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, etc.... We play 40 times a year at retirement homes, nursing homes, etc... We are a charitable orgaization and accept donations which are used to fund inner city school music programs and instruments and lessons for needy children. I believe this music to be the greatest music from the greatest generation. Ps...I run an Elecraft K2/ Qrp with 144 mhz transverter and drive microwave stuff on all microwave bands from 903 mhz thru 10.3 ghz. 73, dave, K4TO Ian Stirling wrote: >On Sunday 27 November 2005 03:52, Kevin Rock wrote: > > >>Good Evening, >> Mozart's symphony #40 is playing in the background >> >> > >Kevin, > > I can't resist writing a reply. > I am a radio amateur and also a concert pianist >and musician. > My performance of Mozart's #40 first movement is >at http://www.opus131.com/music/mozart40.mp3 > I played all the instruments separately on a >Kurzweil PC88 keyboard to a sequencer and played >them simultaneously to a Kurzweil PC2R synthesizer. > To everyone, it's free for downloading with no >forms, passwords or tracking. > Please let me know if you like it, or otherwise. > >Ian, G4ICV, AB2GR, K2 #4962 >-- >_______________________________________________ >Elecraft mailing list >Post to: [hidden email] >You must be a subscriber to post to the list. >Subscriber Info (Addr. Thankyou for the accolades everyone.
An earlier version for the Soundblaster Live reached number six on the classical list of the old defunct mp3 site, and with over 5000 downloads, not even one person wrote to me. Radio amateurs, and maybe especially Elecrafters, are friendly and communicative. Thanks again, Ian, G4ICV, AB2GR, K2 #4962 -- _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
