Good Evening,
The house is cozy warm -- both Sam and I are fed and happy. The critters are staying outside these days and they seem to enjoy it too. I've been hearing a deer bound into the woods as I leave the house after dark several days this week. She does not go far because I don't seem to frighten her much. The lawn is the only grass for many miles and she likes a change in diet now that the fir needles are stiff with late season age. A few nights ago I was serenaded by an owl - elk duet. Interesting mixture of tones. The owl was carrying the bass line while adding percussive effects. I wonder what they were talking about? A few nights ago 40 meters was very, very quiet; much like 80 meters gets an hour before dawn. Twenty meters has been supporting comms each morning so my friend in Oklahoma and I can chat about the weather and construction projects. Speaking of building I came close but have not finished the drywall work. My nephew was too busy to come help with the last few ceiling pieces but I did get the taping and mudding done on all the rest. A few more days and I'll be done. I did take a couple of days off from the dust to volunteer for an ARES exercise, travel into town for legal matters, and study a number of subjects. I am getting closer to understanding an open source compiler with multiple front ends and multiple back ends. This will help me get a few neural network ideas I've been mulling over into a microcontroller. I'll need to use scaled arithmetic instead of floating point but the slide rule discussions on QRP-L have reminded me of my time remembering where the decimal point goes after a long string of calculations. If I have adjusted Mickey's hands properly I may have the correct Zulu time listed below. Remember: the local time stays the same while the UTC changes. This is to keep my feeding time set in stone. I shoveled out the kitchen after renovating the squirrel ravaged insulation. I awarded myself by cleaning the counters and getting my oven in working order. It made me dinner quite handily. I think it did a very good job at creating a golden brown crust of Parmesan cheese over the casserole while I was out burning all the trash I have generated.
