Good Evening Folks,
This year is almost history, only one more day to go. I want to announce the tally of our vote. Counting the ballots was easy since they almost all listed the same decision. Only one abstention, but even that mentioned he'd go with the flow. Easy going group it seems. The times were originally chosen to avoid contests and allow me to eat dinner. It was to allow me to simply eat but my cook has taken her leave. Now I get to cook my own food. I am getting better but it is much nicer to be spoiled rotten by a good cook who can't stand eating the same thing more than once a month. The vote was a landslide. Twenty people voted and all either said change the times or it would be alright if you changed the times. Bottom line? We are going to change the times to suit winter propagation. I am not sure how long this will be in effect but at least until conditions allow a change back. I am fairly easy going too so we will see you tomorrow one hour earlier for each net. Times and frequencies are listed below. Hopefully this will allow folks to the east a better opportunity to be heard. The last few days I have been inside beating on computers of one ilk or another. Another day and I'll get one of my embedded critters blinking an LED :) Doesn't sound like much until you know all the effort involved. I am working out a cross compiler tool chain for a board I've just got running with a new boot loader. Simply getting an LED to blink will mean a lot of work all went correctly. Once I get this tool chain running to my satisfaction I will develop another set for another family of microcontrollers. My goal is to do this for five different families of chips. Then I can use a high level language to create robots (and other gadgets) with the best chip for the application and not have to write everything is assembly language! My winter time has not all been spent fending off the elements. This other work keeps me sane (?) while hopefully creating something for which I'll get paid. Having fun and getting paid will be quite a treat. I am sure the folks at Elecraft know the feeling well :) Next on the agenda is to do a little CAD work and see if my fabricator friends can make the desired parts. Even if I don't get paid it is all fun to do. Then there is a college who wants me to do some work for them. They may pay me to do some of this work and not simply teach. Other than that I've got the house tighter; both inside and out. There are still some leaks, heat going out and water coming in. I am incrementally fixing them as they appear. But, the sun is coming back and with it the new season approaches. This will help our propagation and the dry season will allow me to use my contractor and building skills to craft a new roof and straighten the tree effected wall. I get to practice my drywall skills on the very area I just completed. I'll also frame in a door and a window. That way I can look out the window as I run the net. I have the opportunity to do an even better job given my new situation. Please join us: Sunday 2300z (Sunday 3 PM PST) 14050 kHz Monday 0200z (Sunday 6 PM PST) 7045 kHz Kevin.
