Good Evening,
During one of the very hot days this week I took time to hike down
to the lower parts of my property. While sitting on one of the fallen
trees I heard a bird approaching; a large bird. At first glance I
thought it was a small crow but then he looked at me and resolved into a
pileated woodpecker. It was so still it was easy to hear him flying. I
guess he was curious about me because he kept to nearby trees for the
next fifteen minutes before I got too hot and hiked back home.
Propagation has been in the doldrums lately but the sun looks like
it is heating up again. There may be an X-class flare on the way but if
it doesn't happen quickly it won't hit earth. Though even with a miss
we'll get a lot of ions to pump up propagation again. Hopefully it will
last a week or two.
