Good Evening,
“What’s that?!”, my visual cortex rapidly scanned its card catalog
seeking a best fit solution. Another part of my brain was trying to
decide flight or fight while further processing power was devoted to
wondering why there was a bush where none had been before. Then the
bush’s tail flicked and a black tailed deer resolved the confusion. In
her winter coloration she was popping in and out of focus with the
background. Since I had made no sound she kept munching the leaves of
the low lying bramble. Brambles are a nasty vine covered with fine
spines which always trip me if I am not walking like there is a foot of
snow on the ground. If you aren’t wearing leather gloves those spines
sink into your skin and irritate for a week. She was efficiently
nipping the leaves off from along its length without noticing them. I
would not have put my snout nearly as close to the spiny stem. She ate
only a few feet from me for about fifteen minutes while I sat at my
computer reading the morning news.
The sun is active. There are a few rapidly growing spots and the
solar flux has risen to 78. There may be propagation available for us
to use. Woo hoo! It has been a while. Now to test this hypothesis.
