Elecraft CW Net Report for August 5th & 6th, 2007

Kevin Rock
Good Evening,
    Forty meters was a lot of fun after the frustration of twenty meters;
full of QSB and weak signals.  I was sure 40 was going to be difficult but
the QRN stayed away for the most part (at least on my end of things :)
Signals were much, much stronger while the QSB was less.  Strange thing
about 20 though, KL7CW had the best signal of the group with his KX1 out
of Palmer, Alaska!

    On to the lists =>

On 14050 kHz at 2300z:
W6ZH - Pete - CA - K1 - 553
AH6RE - Curt - HI - KX1 - 464
VE3XL - Ric - ON - not sure if it was the K1 or the Ten Tec
W0RSR - Mike - CO - K2 - 5767
W6ZH - Pete - CA - K1 - 553
N5SM - Scott - TX - K2 - 5846
K4JPN - Steve - GA - K2 - 1422
AK2B - Tom - NY - K2 - 4482
W0CZ - Ken - ND - K2 - 1031
N9IV - Russ - IN - K2 - 4650
K2VCO - Vic - CA - K2 - 709
KL7CW - Rick - AK - KX1 - 798

On 7045.50 kHz at 0200z:
K2VCO - Vic - CA - K2 - 709
KT7Q - Randy - ID - K2 - 213
W0CZ - Ken - ND - K2 - 1031
NM7N - Karl - OR - K2 - 4227
AB9V - Mike - IN - K2 - 3993    *QNI #110*
KT5E - Jay - CO - K2 - 5037
W6ZH - Pete - CA - K1 - 553
WA6TQJ - Gary - CA - Kenwood
WI6O - John - CA - K1 - 922
N0AR - Scott - MN - K2 - 4866
W0NW - Brian - UT - glowbug
NK6A - Don - CA - K2 - 1217      QNI #40!!!
KA5OAI - Sam - TX - K2 - 2481
W7SOM - John - WA - K2 - 2623

I hope everyone who tried to check in got my attention.  I know the
Flying Pigs were nearby but they were running less than 1 watt.  That is
why I was up a bit from the normal 40 meter spot.  If I missed you on
twenty meters there was not much I could do about it because propagation
was against us.  On forty I worked folks until the band was empty.  As
ever, if there are any errors in the above lists please bring them to my
attention and I'll fix them.
The deer have been back to pay me a visit but I think this buck is not
the same as the last one because his antlers are not as well developed.  I
am getting quite a busy house though.  Just a moment ago a brave mouse
walked by me to get to a new hole in the flooring.  The living room has a
sleeping cat who simply looks at the mice and voles parading by with no
interest.  He used to be a great mouser but he no longer seems to care.  I
wonder what he would think if I brought a younger cat into the house?
The weather will be a little chilly for most of the week so it is good
thing I'll be driving into town a few days.  That way I won't have to heat
the house.  Next weekend I will start collecting wood for the winter.
I've got it down, decked, and dry so it won't be too much work.  Just buck
it, split it, haul it, and stack it.  Good exercise but it will keep me
stiff for the first week or so.  Hopefully the weather will dry out so I
can rip off the roof before winter.  That has not been going well at all.
The weather tried changing to the dry season but never quite made it up
here.  I'll have to move the radio room back to where it started so I can
at least rip out the damaged areas from the inside.  So, to break up
cutting wood I'll move books, computers, radios, test equipment, parts and
various other things to get ready for the demolition.
I hear a noisy cat, I'd better see what he's gotten into :)

Take care and I will see you all again next week,
    73,
Kevin.  KD5ONS  (Net Control Operator 5th Class)

Hi Kevin,

You are correct that you worked me on 20 and 40 (much better signals on 40!)

But it should read

K2VCO - Vic - CA - K3 - 0007 !
