Good evening folks,
Even though the wind is howling, the temperatures are in the mid teens (give me a break this is Oregon :), and the snow is falling Tom and I ran the two nets and logged a few check ins. My hands are in sad shape this week so the paddles got a little bloody from the cracks but that's OK you folks seem to know what I am trying to say ;) We welcomed a few new folks and welcomed back a few others. Ron gave me a report on the lower elevations so I think my sister may have beat the weather back to Vancouver, WA. There is talk of freezing rain tomorrow so I may just stay home and keep warm by the fire. I know Sam the cat will :) On twenty meters the band seemed good at the beginning but Tom said I went away and I thought he went away. We shall never determine which of us left the air first ;) On forty meters the band was up and down with QSB but Tom did yoeman work and landed quite a number of folks. I got a few too so I am trying to hold up my end of this deal. I did miss Ci's new rig's serial number but it sounded good to me as he worked with Tom. I think we just plain did not ask for the S/N. Oh well, there is time for that later. Then we had back to back Karl/Carl. Hmmm... is there some cosmic significance to that? The second Carl is working in snowy and cold Iowa on an Elecraft rig. You are welcome to check in whenever you like with the IC 746 but you'll have more fun with your K1 :) Please don't hurry though; building them is very enjoyable. Operating them is more so in my humble opinion. That way you get to meet a lot of nice folks like Tom! On to the lists. I'll get better one day, never fear. Thank you for joing us on this cold winter evening. The bands were not great but that is not the point. It is making the effort and meeting other like minded folks that makes this fun. When the bands are a bit better we chat a little longer but it is nice to greet strangers and old friends alike on an evening like this. Don't be a stranger. I'll be back next week for another round of the Elecraft CW Net. Why don't you join us? 73, Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class) -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Tom, N0SS, was QSA 5 when you first called, and QSA 3 five minutes later.
That's 20 meters near sunset! Keep warm. Keep well. Keep up the good works.
