Another interesting evening on ECN. We had quite a geographical spread
with very good signals on 20 meters. Unless you told me I could not tell the difference between QRP and QRO signals. It was hard to believe some of you were simply running 3 watts. It also pays to advertise. I asked for a new state and I got one through the auspices of Alan from Montpelier, VT. Thank you very much. Fine signal, I hope to hear you again. Gary's signal from Nova Scotia was strong and quick. I think he is testing me :) Thanks go out to Tom and Dick for their fine job of picking up those folks I cannot hear. Like Roger who practically lives in my back yard. Congratulations on the new amplifier Roger but the only thing that will help propagation between us is if I ever get ECN/80 or ECN/160 up and running. Yes the antenna is kind of up. It is laying on my roof allowing me to listen to folks. If I would get some dacron rope, some spare time, and some clear weather I think it would work nicely from the 80 and 90 foot fir trees spread around the acreage. But snow and editing are keeping me from that task. One day this week I will see how it transmits if I can get away from kit building for my leisure time activity. On to the lists. On ECN/20 at 14050 kHz at 0000z: N4SO - Ken - AL - K2 - 3394 N4GE - Jerry - TN - K2 - 1054 K5BGB - Rod - TX - K2 - 1126 Welcome aboard Rod. VE1RGB - Gary - NS - K2 - 2519 I truly did not know I could copy that quickly :) N0SS - Tom - MO - K2 - 008 Thanks for your help Tom. Get well QUICK!! K6DGW - Fred - CA - K2 - 4398 W0CZ - Ken - ND - K2 - 1031 K1MZM - Alan - VT - K2 - 4327 Welcome to ECN Alan and thank you for a new state! KL7CW - Rick - AK - KX1 - 798 A bit tougher this time around Rick. WA7BOC - Roger - WA - K2 - 755 QNI # 30! Congratulations Roger. N9IV - Russ - IN - K2 - 4650 WA2SI - Bert - NY - K1 - 1337 You were definitely making me work for this QNI :) Kudos to Ken in cold North Dakota. He was my second check in the very first time I ran ECN. Gary, VE1RGB, was #1. Ken has now checked in 50 times over the years. He is number 3 on the all time list. He is lead by Tom, N0SS, with 68 and Mychael, AA3WF, with 54. There are quite a few folks who have checked in 30 or more times. Roger, WA7BOC, passed into that group this evening. Thank you each for your kind words, assistance with relays, and pleasant conversation. I know there were some other folks calling on 40 meters but neither I nor W0NTA could pick them out of the noise. I am sorry we missed you. Only two states remain before ECN gains WAS status. Then we may have to see about worked all provinces :) Next week sunspot 720 and the surrounding spots which look much, much larger will peek around the limb of the sun. Activity will jump and propagation will change. I am not sure in which direction but we will find out. This gets more fun each week. Thanks to you all for your support and patience. 73 for now, Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class) -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
