Elecraft CW Net Report for June 10th & 11th, 2007

Kevin Rock
Good Evening,
It appears QRN can be one way as well as QSB.  I was not having a
problem with QRN on ECN/40 but folks on the other side of the Rockies sure
complained about it.  The folks west of the Rockies mentioned QSB which is
what I was experiencing.  The very weakest station on 40 meters was K2HYD
but I still got snippets from him.  WA7BOC was 229 to me but I got him.
AB9V said to Tom he was having trouble with me but he was booming in with
a slight flutter on his signal.
Our first K3 contact was KI6WX on both nets.  I heard him very well,
with 8 watts out, on the second net.  Thank you John, the rig sounds just
as good as it looks!  Funny thing?  It sounds just like all the other
Elecraft rigs I've worked :)  Guess Wayne and Eric want to keep the
Elecraft tone distinct from lesser rigs!  Tom worked John on 20 meters but
I was able to copy some of the contact.  He is just too close to me to
copy him well on twenty.
Around ten I was gathering laundry when I looked out the window and saw
two deer getting up from a nap.  They blend right in with the fir needles
lying under the trees so I can't see them unless they move.  I went
outside and they just look at me.  Around noon they were munching the lawn
and then they napped again.  Still later in the day I went out to get
something and found three heads popping up to look at me.  One of them had
about two inches of furry horns.  So, they have a boyfriend!  They seem to
consider me just part of the scenery so once they figured out what I was
they all started eating again.

If there are any errors in the above lists please send me a correction
in an email.  I'll fix it.  Probably should have mentioned: we just had
our 4th anniversary!  ECN started on June 7th, 2003 when the K3 was still
on the drafting board.  Seems like both have matured at similar rates.
Now if I could just do as well running the nets as they did with their
design :)  Thank you all for your continuing support and for your
patience.  Hopefully we can keep this going another four years!

    Until next week stay well,
       73,
Kevin. KD5ONS  (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
