Good Evening, Twenty meters worked wonderfully this afternoon. Many more contacts than recent weeks have provided. There was QSB and a number of storms across the country but turning up the RF gain helped dig out the weaker stations. Forty meters has become quite the local net over the last two months. I rarely reach over the Rockies let alone the Cascades or Sierras. Today I got two Californians with very different weather reports. Dale mentioned 90 while Brian gave me one in the 70s. Both reports were warmer than mine. I got to 55 degrees today with rain and clouds. One spot of blue was all I saw. On to the lists => On 14049.5 kHz at 2200z: NO8V - John - MI - K3 - 820 N0TA - John - CO - K3 - 994 W0CZ - Ken - ND - K3 - 457 K1THP - Dave - CT - K3 - 686 N7KRT - Jeff - TX - K2 - 5471 K6MGO - Bill - CA - K3 - 5182 NK6A - Don - CA - K3 - 4569 KB3FBR - Joe - PA - K2 - 6178 On 7045 kHz at 0000z: K0DTJ - Brian - CA - K3 - 4113 K6PJV - Dale - CA - K3 - 1183 Tomorrow it is supposed to get warmer, into the mid 60s. Tuesday will be the hottest day of the week with a forecast of 70 degrees. Then it goes back down into the fifties again with ever more rain. Looks like summer will be much like spring. Maybe I should drive east or south to see some sun and to feel warmth again. What a strange year! Hopefully the better propagation we had today will continue throughout the week and into next weekend. Maybe the sun will prove all the prognosticators incorrect and flare up again. Only time will tell. But the only way to tell if a band is dead is to call CQ until your hand grows weary. Until next week stay well, 73, Kevin. Bummer on Saturday for me. Have tried for the past 2 weeks to check in - the band is really bad for me both weeks. I can hear folks down in the noise but no answers when I call. Will keep trying, of course.

Kevin calls the 20m net at 2200Z on 14050 +/- and the 40m net at 2400Z on Sundays [or 0000Z Monday if you don't believe in 2400 being a "real" time :-)] on 7045 There are a lot of weak signals around 14050, it's sort of a QRP watering hole. Plus, condx have been in the tank for over a week now. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2011 Cal QSO Party 1-2 Oct 2011 - www.cqp.org ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
