Elecraft CW Net Report for March 18th & 19th, 2007

Kevin Rock
Good Evening,
Very good nets tonight.  When I left my rig Dale was threatening to
check in with a pasta antenna.  He and Rick were working each other and
lowering their power as they went.  Sometimes the band is amazing.  I
could not hear K6PJV on 20 meters but on 40 he was very strong.  So, after
the end of the net, he called back at one watt.  I gave him a 589 but he
could not get his rig down any lower.  That's when the linked noodle
antenna came in to play.  Hopefully he will cook them first!
On twenty meters things were changeable from one location to the next.
I heard Ray in North Carolina very well but could not hear Georgia well at
all.  Connecticut was very good as was Pennsylvania but West Virginia took
a relay.  Mike in Indiana was very steady on both nets but did not get any
others from the upper Midwest.
I was able to salvage another antenna from the windfall so hopefully I
can get it up this week between the many storms which are predicted.  I
have one tree which has been scraped clean on one side so that will make a
nice center support.  The ends are a bit iffy because I lost so many of
the large trees.  Maybe I'll make it an inverted V and hope for the best.

AC7AC - Ron - OR - forgot to ask K2 or KX1 ?

I know I missed a few things simply because I forgot to ask.  One of
these days ...  However, I hope you all had fun and I also hope we did not
leave to many of you in the lurch.  Band conditions being what they were
one can never tell who is and who is not trying to get into the net.  On
forty there were a number of contests going on so we did have a few fly by
calls coming our way.  I have at least three of them in my notes and I
know Tom heard one or two while I was working on the list.  I know the
Flying Pigs were running (someone should close their gate :) but there was
also an RTTY station and a voice station running over the top of us at
times.  Makes life interesting ;)
    Until next week stay well,
       73,
Kevin.  KD5ONS  (Net Control Station 5th Class)
