Elecraft CW Net Report for November 22nd & 23rd, 2009

Good Evening,
   The new net times helped a great deal.  A bright sunshine filled day greeted the opening of the first net.  The second net had a guest critter.  There was a doe present right outside my window for the entire time.  The sun was just setting when I got the first check in simultaneous to me seeing her move.  As dusk gathered she would pop in and out of view.  If she moved I could see her.  If she stood still, with her head down, and ate she was invisible.  Occasionally she would look up directly at me but my fingers were beneath the sill of the window so she could not see me moving.  It was interesting to think the deer hunters were driving by on the road only twenty feet away while she calmly ate my grass and forbs.  It was nice to have company.
   Twenty meters had great copy while Tom and I exchanged the NCS hat to hit different parts of the continent.  I got one email from an operator who could not hear the twenty meter net.  Seems Texas was out of range at this early time.  As the sun goes further south and sets earlier this may resolve itself.  I did notice fatigue setting in during the second net.  With only a few hours sleep due to the gale force winds we experienced last night and only a short break between nets the second net was harder than normal to complete.  I am very glad I did not lose my second antenna last night.  At 6:30 AM I heard a loud crash right over my bedroom.  I feared I had lost the second antenna so after breakfast I got onto the roof to investigate.  The noise was caused by a large branch and not the antenna.  When I took a walk today in the sunshine I found a number of trees had broken off and fallen into the road.  I am happy none of those put a hole into my new roof.

   If there are any errors in the above lists please email me with the corrections.  I am very tired so I would not be surprised if some are located.  Now to clean up, make my bed, and hope for no high winds tonight so I can sleep.  I think I could sleep through parts of the storm I had last night due to exhaustion :)  My bed is going to feel really good when I lay down.  I hope to remember to turn on the alarm clock or else I will see noon while still in bed!  However, I am happy the new times made such a difference.  Next week they will be easier to work after the practice I had this week.
