Elecraft CW Net Report for November 28th, 2005

Kevin Rock
Good Evening,
The clouds rolled in thick and cold this afternoon.  The fire was
warming the house but it felt damp.  The shack was about 50 degrees when I
started the first net.  I may have to try gloves next week but that will
not improve my sending one bit!  May just have to seal off this room and
add candles.

After the CQ CW contest finished I called the net on 20 meters.  Rick,
KL7CW, was not very strong but we exchanged reports.  There was no one
else to be had after him.  I knew my antenna was still up but I think the
heavy fog may have been effecting the propagation.  I know the SWR was
changing which is a sign of a damp antenna.  The fog off the ocean is
always pretty thick, today especially so, since we have an inch of snow
left from yesterday.  A few days ago it was sunny and dry but Oregon is
known for changeable weather ;)

    On to the lists.

On 14050 kHz at 2400z:
KL7CW - Rick - AK - KX1 - 798

On 7045 kHz at 0257z:
N0SS - Tom - MO - K2 - 008          Thanks Tom.
WA5ZNU - Leigh - CA - K2 - 3121
K1EV - Bill - CT - K2 - 2152
WA7BOC - Roger - WA - K2 - 755
N6JW - John - CA - K2 - 3290

Thank you folks for coming out on such a mucky evening.  I'd get back to
somewhere warm and drink some hot chocolate if I were you :)  I am going
to arrange for more heat next week.  A drafty house is not conducive to
happy fingers!  Typing and sending become more difficult.  I need all the
help I can get ;)

Until next week stay warm and stay well,
    73,
Kevin.  KD5ONS  (Net Control Operator 5th Class)

As the CQWW rolled to a halt (OK, suddenly crashed at 0000Z), the band
became very quiet, as in no signals between 14000 and 14070.  Never
heard a peep from anyone on 14050.  Checked tower ... still vertical ...
checked SWR -- normal, checked rotator and it was at 350.  SFI was in
the 80's, A=2, K=1.  Called a couple of times, no reply.  Don't know
what to say.

73,

Fred K6DGW
