Good Evening,
The net ran as usual this evening. Contacts from Nova Scotia to Texas to Virginia to Colorado. QSB reports from all sectors but the noise level was down so contacts were fairly good. Jim and Dick were giving other rigs a chance to breath tonight. Dick's 70 watts seemed pretty weak though. I think the band was much longer than normal. Now that the sun is going down earlier we may need to reassess whether 40 meters will work for us soon. I heard something about Daylight Savings Time changing late this year but have not had this confirmed. Do any of you know about this? At 2257z on 14050 kHz: WU3R - Brian - WV - ? N5QVF - Dario - TX - K2 - 4327 QNI #5 W0NTA - Dick - CO - K2 - 1787 QNI #55!! Thanks folks. I was tired from chores but it appears the cramping to my hands has gone away. Guess that means I may be getting back into shape ;) The deck is getting closer to covered, the framing is going well, and lastly -- the wood pile has another cord on it with more stacked in the forest. We will be warm this winter! Feels good to be getting outside and changing our environment. Now to drag a radio out and work QRP for a while. I need to do a bit of antenna work but the other chores are taking precedence. When they get completed I will use my dacron rope to get all of my antennas higher and more permanently affixed to the fir trees. The long awaited loop will get up there too, I promise. Just have to get all these other things done first. I still want to see if we can try 80 meters. As ever if there are any errors in the above list I will fix the database and post the errata. 73, Kevin. I tried to join this week finally but could just barely make out some squeaks. Had the radio here with me in the office tonight but a quicky indoor antenna just wouldn't cut it. That and something generating a whole lot of spurs all over 20M. Maybe next week from home where the radio belongs... > I heard something about Daylight Savings Time changing > late this year but have not had this confirmed. Do any of you > know about this? My calendar shows the time change on 30 October. That would be the last Sunday of the month, same as last year. -- 73 de Thomas M. Another month of daylight Clocks will go cuckoo BY MICHAEL McAULIFF DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU WASHINGTON - The clock is ticking on a new Y2K-style techno scare in 2007 - thanks to Congress. That's because legislators slipped a measure into the energy bill that President Bush is set to sign today extending daylight-saving time by four weeks - a change-up that machines already programmed for the annual hour jump may not be prepared to cope with. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/story/335379p-286516c.html I've heard some say it will go into effect this year; the above article says 2007. I'm not sure if this measure was stripped from the bill. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Thank you Matt.
You have clarified what was ringing in the back of my brain. I had heard something was going to change with Daylight Savings Time but not the particulars. Thus we may (or may not) have to wait until next year for the change to occur. Thank you Ben Franklin and the US Congress ;) What would we do without either one of them? (That was rhetorical folks!)
