Good Evening,
Twenty meters was not easy. After I worked Ken I called for more
check ins and got Roy and another very weak station. Roy said he needs
to keep his snow blower active. Maybe he'll volunteer for folks east of
him. I kept digging and found only a presence calling me. Then Brian
was relayed in. I called him once I had a call sign and was able to
catch DTJ but little else. Then I dug out K4TO. Dave was trying to work
that new radio smell out of his K3s. By the time he worked me on 40
meters it was starting to fade.
The forty meter net was easier. Some QSB warble on a few of you but
mostly strong signals. Two reports of injuries today: one the result of
an ice fall, and a torn biceps. Reminds me to ask Wayne to build a
circuit to inject endorphins into my right wrist as I send. I miss too
many dits when I flinch. I remember dad standing behind me telling me
about sight picture, windage, elevation, then squeeze. Worked for .30
cal maybe it will help my thumb on CW. Then Dale advocated being lazy;
who am I to complain?
On 14049.5 kHz at 2200z:

K6XK - Roy - IA
K0DTJ - Brian - CA relayed, he was below S0 to me though I did get a
DTJ a few times.
K4TO - Dave - KY
On 7047 kHz 0000z:
AE6JV - Bill - CA
K0DTJ - Brian - CA
K6XK - Roy - IA
W6JHB - Jim - CA
W8OV - Dave - TX
KG7V - Marv - WA
K4TO - Dave - KY
K6PJV - Dale - CA
I ran through my morning litany of turning on the servers, the work
stations, and starting the kettle for tea. When I got to this end of
the house I found myself eye to eye with a doe. I first saw her eating
when I booted the server at the west end of the house. Then again when
I booted the server in a room to the south. But when I turned on this
box she caught me. We tried standing still but time wore on and neither
of us was fooling the other. I sat down then peeked a few times until
she was gone.
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS
