Good Evening,
One more week has passed beneath the bridge. Water is once again flowing onto our Oregon hillsides. We did have a few nice sunny days so I know they exist but our daffodils are getting another drink before all the buds complete their mission. ARECC was good today. Our class has one more installment before Pat and I graduate a number of students at level 3. We will miss teaching our EC what his position requires. He is a hoot. An old Coastie who worked on the Staten Island icebreaker. It is often a struggle to stay ahead of these folks. We will prepare them to be the best ecomm team in the Northwest if not the entire West Coast! But I digress ;) Tomorrow evening we will attempt another installment of the Elecraft CW Net. Hopefully propagation will allow me to get past the Rocky Mountains and at least in to the plains states. Ohio and Pennsylvania are to be hoped for but may be possible. My sked into OK was mostly good this week but working down to ABQ was a struggle at times. We did enter a few streams of particles from the sun giving us a bit higher noise level but just makes life a bit more interesting copying S1 sigs with an S3 noise level! But in a couple of years the down years of the solar cycle will just be a memory and we will be working Eastern Europe and New Zealand with no difficulties. I hope to see you all try your hand tomorrow on the nets. Do you wish to give it a try? Please do! Hasta luego, Kevin. KD5ONS -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Good Morning Kevin,
Don't give up on 40m propagation yet !! Last night (Saturday) stateside signals were very strong (East coast to Central states) exchanging Party reports. There were some West coast signals later, weak but readable when in the clear. Heavy RTTY QRM 7.025 up. I had been experimenting with a new antenna phasing system until dark with much more to do, so all this heard with a mismatched, mismanaged antenna firing who knows where. Did not transmit in case I blew up a balun. The problem here with the ECN / QRP frequency 7.040 +- is RTTY, Letter Station and SSB QRM. K2 sweats! 73, Geoff.
