Good evening,
I hope you are all enjoying the sound of CW filling the bands. Due to their heavy useage I'll not be holding the nets tomorrow. Two times a year the bands are too busy for ECN to fit in: Field Day and Sweepstakes. I will be busy in the back yard splitting all the wood I bucked over the last few days. I may get a chance to burn the slash if the fire marshall gives the OK. It will take years to cut all the wood that fell last December. Some of the trees are over a hundred feet long (they are lying down you know) and greater than 30 inches in diameter. I will be warm for quite some time.
Weather has been fantastic the last week; dry and mostly sunny. I finally got a telescopic view of Comet Holmes. It is the oddest comet I have ever seen. I did find out why there is no tail. It is a matter of perspective. The tail points away from the sun. That direction happens to be directly behind the large coma. It is quite easy to spot as it is very bright (3rd magnitude) and big.
The bands are quite happy now. I've been listening while I work and have heard quite a few contesters working on 20, 40, and 80. Nothing heard on 15 but I did hear non-contesters on 17 and 30. Lots of CW to copy today and tomorrow. Hope you are all having fun on your chosen band. I'll be back with ECN next week when the bands are less packed.
Until then stay well,
Kevin.
