Good Evening from San Ramon, California.
I spent the last few days driving to Pacificon and participating in the event. One last session of meeting and greeting folks at the banquet this evening and then I'll be on the road back home. No, I do not have my rig in my truck. I'll not be on the air until I get back home some time Monday night.
It was fun seeing many of the folks I've worked on the Elecraft Net. Carter, N3AO, was very happy to see me. The most interesting meeting occurred when I talked to Wayne for about twenty minutes before he figured out who I was. I was wearing a bright red Elecraft shirt with my name, call sign, and NCS ECN on it. Must have been something I said which made him look closer at the text :) Eric took less than a second to determine my identity! Lisa was the fastest because she and I worked in an Elecraft booth a number of years ago. I also met Fred, Dale, and Chris. I am sure there were a few others but names and calls escape me. I have not slept very well since leaving home; cities have too much noise in them for me to rest very long. But, soon I'll be back on the mountain for the winter and will experience my peaceful retreat.
It was very nice to meet and talk engineering with Lyle. Very interesting fellow. If you get the chance talk with him for a while. It was nice to hear a high level discussion of some of the design decisions taken while crafting the DSP module of the new K3. Later I heard some of the same from Eric while he was giving a talk at Pacificon. I will remember my visit to San Ramon and Pacificon for quite some time.
If anyone wishes to start and run ECN tomorrow please take notes and send me the list of folks you worked. You should know the routine by now and know what to ask new folks. I'll do the writing if you wish so the lists and database stay in order. Then I'll send more gossip about the folks at the Skunk Works of Aptos!

Kevin. KD5ONS
