Hello,

is the upgrade possible for an Elecraft K3 from may 2008? S/N is 827.
What will be the price including shipping to germany?

Holger,

The DSP Upgrade is certainly possible for your K3 - whether that is a
board exchange or the LPF which you add to the board.

The question about price and shipping should be directed to

Hello Holger,

Since your K3 is an earlier version, I suggest you take this chance to order all the modifications mentioned in:

All the modifications are not difficult and can be done without too much trouble. The DSP modification is definitely a must. NR before modification has lot of artifacts.

Revision C startet in may 2009. It is ref b or a .... And is the upgrade possible? I'm little bit confused!

Holger,

If you do the DSP board exchange, you do not have to be concerned about
the level of your current board - you will receive the latest level DSP
board in the exchange..
I believe the LPF can be added to any DSP board level.

For other upgrades, consult the list at the Elecraft website to see
either the serial number range or the cut-in date for each change - that
should tell you which upgrade kits are needed for your K3.

Hello Holger,

Just order the K3DSPUPGD. It suits all earlier versions. Please also take this chance to order other modification parts as well. My K3#11xx is newer than yours but needs nearly all the modifications.

Elecraft K3 DSP upgrade

Hello Holger,

Don is correct. Do all the modifications for your early K3 #283.

Usually, the first kg is the most expensive in terms of shipping costs from US to Germany. Therefore, if you order ALL the modification parts from Elecraft at one go, there will be savings in shipping cost - the heavier, the cheaper in terms of US$ per kg.

Please read the above weblink about modifications carefully. You will then agree with both Don and myself that ALL modifcations are applicable to your K3.

Don't be frightened by the modification work. They all should be within normal soldering skills. I am not a radio man by profession but still can handle the soldering work.
