Elecraft K3 HF Transceiver .. And.. Spare Parts .??

Andy Cunningham-2
Wayne, Eric And "The Crew"...

You guy's just ROCK My World..!  I know..I speak for everyone here on the
list when I say that also...  I was fortunate enough to see
The original post from you this morning Wayne (doing some late night
web-ferreting)..

Won't keep you long..just wanted to ask primarily as a constructor, will you
guy's be also making available to us things like
Blank matching K3 enclosures, knobs, buttons, carry-handles (nice feature)
etc etc... In the same way as you currently do with most
Of the previous Elecraft kits..??

Also.. Does the K3 have a "tilt-Stand" feature..?  I personally enquired
about the possibility of these becoming available as "parts"
To Lisa a few weeks back, and can now understand why that question went
un-answered..!  No Worries there, Enquiring-Minds just would
Like to know..

Infact, will there be "spares" available for just about anything to do with
the K3..?? and possibly the Amps when they become
Available..??  Thats the basic question here..??

Anyway, what an outstanding job you have all done for us here in the world
of ham radio, and also the QRP Fraternity for sure Wayne..
Sit back and let the Kudos flood in my friend, then after take a well earned
rest from the onslaught.. You and the crews achievements are well
Appreciated and well deserved you have all worked diligently hard on
"Building The Dream" and making it a reality..!

Well Done, .. Thankyou for taking Ham Radio to another level..

P.S. When can we expect to see info on the website, and when will any future
Rev.A manuals be available for general download..??

Yes. The tilt stand height is 2", a little lower than the K2 because
the K3 is much taller.

David P SChornak
"Built-in PSK/TTY decode/encode allows data mode operation with
without a PC - use CW keyer paddle or small attached keyboard"
What does that mean?

How big is the k3 in comparison to the k2?
What are the overall dimensions of the k3?

You tune in a PSK31 signal, for example, and it is decoded and the text
scrolls by in the VFO B window on the LCD display.

To send PSK31, you send CW with your paddle and the radio converts it to
Properly shaped PSK31 and send it out over the air, zero-beat with the
PSK31 signal you have tuned in.

Same with PSK63 and RTTY. For Cw you don't need the special encoder, but
the K3 decodes and displays CW text if you desire.

Please see the K3 data sheet for this information. In case you missed
the link in Wayne's initial announcement, it is here <

K3SDpotting?

There are two methods.

The first is the normal spotting tone that you tune for zero beat.  TAP
the SPOT switch to toggle the tone on and off.

If you are tone deaf like me, this doesn't always work so well.

So, there is also a feature called CWT.  You press this button and the
right half of the S Meter display becomes a zero-center tuning meter.
You tune the signal in according to this bar graph.  When you are close
(within a hundred Hz or so either way) you can either finish tuning
yourself, or press and HOLD the SPOT button and voila!

The K3 will tune itself to zero beat :-)
