Check for excessive volt drop between your power supply and the K3 APP
input. Try a heavier shorter custom DC line via a new APP plug with a good power supply set at 15v. A 30amp good quality comms grade switch mode on your P3 etc. can keep it close. Try a different known good power supply also, if problem persists. Power level fluctuation like you describe, was an issue here too until I did above, along with cleaning up the TX signal -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Bill Braithwaite Sent: Tuesday, 12 June 2012 3:00 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] [Elecraft} K3 power fluctuation I am new at this so if I am screwing up please understand. My K3 has started something new that has me wondering. I any mode when the power output is adjusted to more than 30 watts the power output constantly fluctuates between zero and the full 100 watts, never going back to what the control is set at. This just started and I am looking for help. Thank you. Bill, Can you measure the voltage at the APP connector on rear of K3 during
a 50w and 100 w key? A TX gain calibration sound like a good idea, using the K3 Utility and a 50w dummy load direct on the back of the K3. Cantenna's and other coaxial connect DL's sometimes give XL issues on some bands messing up the calibration, as the K3 swr detection is sensitive to slight mismatches during the calibration. The pl259 >heatsink type that screw direct on work well for this purpose. The power supply is also a good solid heavy duty supply. Have also switched the PS and get the same results. I do not have a P3. Thanks for your input. Looking for all the help I can get.
