Does anyone know if the two linear amplifiers that were shown on the Dayton pictures will cover six meters??
I hope so as I was thinking of purchasing a Tokyo Hy-Power next year but would rather stay with a good ole U S of A company since the boyz at Elecraft know what they are doing for sure ! ! According the designer, they WILL.

Another good choice for a medium-power 6M solid-state amp is the TE Systems
0552G, made in USA, a very robust unit that will put out 400W (1:15) into a 50 ohm load. It runs cool without a fan at CW/SSB duty cycles, and will handle key-down carrier modes with the addition of a fan on top of the heatsink. Love mine... For those with no familiarity with TE Systems, I gather that they do a lot of military contracts and do the ham stuff as kind of a sideline. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.) They don't advertise, they have no website, and vendors purporting to be distributors for them typically have no actual stock, so you might as well order direct from TE. Their phone number is (310) 478.0591. The chances of finding a used for sale on the ham market are slim. People tend not to sell them once they get them. I looked for a used one for a month before giving up and ordering a new one. A good power supply for it is the Astron RS-70M, a big linear job that just sits there and works. A well-designed and filtered switcher would work fine, too -- I just have a love of the good old "big iron" types. :-) Bill / W5WVO Tom Hammond wrote: > According the designer, they WILL. > > 73, > > Tom N0SS > > At 16:54 07/19/2007, you wrote: >> Does anyone know if the two linear amplifiers that were shown on the >> Dayton pictures will cover six meters?? >> >> I hope so as I was thinking of purchasing a Tokyo Hy-Power next year >> but would rather stay with a good ole U S of A company since the >> boyz at Elecraft know what they are doing for sure ! ! >> >> Tom/k1tl... > > _______________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Post to: [hidden email] > You must be a subscriber to post to the list. > Subscriber Info (Addr. I looked for a used one for a month before giving up and ordering a new one. I recently picked up a 400W 2M TE Systems amp on eBay for a reasonable price, so don't give up too quickly. But they're not common. I'm not really happy with high-current low (13.8V) voltage devices, but.... 73, doug _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Another feature, not well known nor advertised, is that their (TE Systems)
amps have "active bias". This greatly improves their linearity and cuts down on local splatter. Many of the existing solid state amps do not have any sort of stabilized bias which is why so many of them on 6, 2 and 432 sound so bad. 73, Dick, K5AND -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Doug Faunt N6TQS +1-510-655-8604 Sent: Thursday, July 19, 2007 10:12 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft Linear Amp From: "Bill W5WVO" <[hidden email]> Date: Thu, 19 Jul 2007 20:12:51 -0600 Another good choice for a medium-power 6M solid-state amp is the TE Systems 0552G, made in USA, a very robust unit that will put out 400W (1:15) into a 50 ohm load. Here is a weblink to some photos of the TE 0552G AMP
http://www.ad5th.com/0552g.html and here is the eham 5.0/5.0 review webpage http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/3140 and the well known KM0T has one somewhere in the jumble of photos on his website: http://www.km0t.com/pages/station.htm de ken n9vv Bill W5WVO wrote: > Another good choice for a medium-power 6M solid-state amp is the TE > Systems 0552G, made in USA, a very robust unit that will put out 400W > (1:15) into a 50 ohm load.
