Elecraft Net Report for February 5th and 6th, 2006

Kevin Rock
Good Evening Folks,
Tonight twenty meters was plagued with QRN and forty was hammered by
QRM.  RTTY was making it difficult to copy some of the S3 and lower
stations.  But my friends in the center helped a great deal.  Tom and Dave
shared NCS duties while working into the SE, West, and South.  Then we
filled for each other.  I did get a note from an op in Marietta, GA who
was missed somehow.  He is not too miffed at us but I think we'll keep our
ears open for his call.  No other ops from GA tonight so we have some
faint excuse ;)
However, it was fun hearing from you all.  It got fast and furious but
you all seem to be very patient.  Thank you, I do appreciate that.  I was
hearing into the Northeast very well, starting with Maine and New
Hampshire.  One day I hope to visit the first state.  I have very fond
memories of a summer spent in Meriden, New Hampshire though.  While my dad
was in a seminar my mom and I got to hiking and canoeing around the
state.  We did visit some woolen mills at Queechee Gorge (I hope I spelled
that correctly it was around 1968 ;)  I did very much want to take Pat to
Lobstercon to show off her clogging and singing abilities.  Too bad guys,
you would have enjoyed her company.  You'd probably not even notice I was
there after you met Pat!  Just ask Carter, N3AO, he seems to remember
meeting me only because I was with her!
    However, on to the lists.

Very nice showing indeed considering the sun has not had a spot on it in a
few days.  Some folks swear by propagation predictions.  I've learned it
is best to call CQ and see who is able to hear me.  With ECN we use each
other's ears to make our range a bit greater.  Dave and Tom were working
folks who were ESP to me.  Given my high noise floor this evening it would
have been very tough to drag them out with no assistance.  Thank you Dave,
and thank you Tom.  Your help is most appreciated.

Any fills or corrections will be happily received and changes made to the
database.

Thank you all once again for making this an enjoyable Sunday pastime.  It
is nice to hear all those signals from across the continent.  Just wait
until the solar cycle starts its upswing in the future.  It will be most
interesting trying to run this net :)
    73 all,
Kevin.  KD5ONS  (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
