There is a world of difference between owning or buying a knife and carrying
one in a public place. We are allowed to buy knives, but not to have them
in public. (otherwise we'd find it a tad difficult to carve the Sunday
roast).
Having said that many people carry pocket knives so we can remove stones
from horses hooves, etc etc.

I am surprised to hear that...About 2 years ago I built a KX-1 for a blind
ham on the UK...As a token of his appreciation, he sent me a very beautiful,
very expensive, custom made pocket knife...
