Elecraft SSB Net Report, Sunday, April 14, 2012

N6JW
Here is a rather belated report of the Elecraft SSB Net from this last Sunday.

Conditions seemed reasonably good, and we had at least 46 stations check in
to the net.  Thanks to Steve (W0SZ), Jim (K5LAD) and others for help with
relaying, and thanks to all those who checked in.

I had been away the previous two weeks and had no intention of taking the
net.  But when it became apparent after 18:00z that Dale (WC7S), the designated
net control station for the day, was not going to be able to make it (see Dale's post
from later Sunday afternoon) we tried to keep it going as best we could.

I didn't even have a pen handy to write with, so logged stations in the comment
section of the first station to check in, in my antiquated DOS logging program.
You will find the list of stations, in order of check in, below.  Please let me know
if anything is garbled or otherwise needs correction.  I will be very amazed if
there are not several errors, as I had to retype the information three times--
from the logging program to an iPad, and then to my Macbook Pro for forwarding
to the reflector.  Unfortunately, typing and retyping this stuff greatly increases the
chance for mistakes.

Thanks and 73,

John, N6JW

Re: Elecraft SSB Net Report, Sunday, April 15, 2012

Elecrafters:

As I feared there were several errors in the report of last week's Elecraft SSB Net.
Thanks to Art, Matt and especially Jim for the corrections.

First of all, last Sunday was April 15, not April 14!

Art is WB8ENE not "KB8ENE".  Matt W6NIA, checked in from Upland, CA on KX3 #6.
He was relayed by a W5, and should have appeared near the bottom of the
check-in list.  I believe "K4RKS" should have been Jim - W4RKS (a regular).  "VE7ZDZ"
should have been VA3ZBZ.  "W5RN" should have been W5NR.

Jim, K5LAD, reports that there was also a K5EHS running a Ten-Tec rig but he didn't
get a name or QTH.  After K5EHS he had a VE7NEX - Ron in BC with no rig info.  And
following them there may have been a WB5??? - Larry in LA, also with no rig info.
Also after AC7SB, he copied N7BJH but didn't have any other info on him.  Just before
K4GCJ he wrote down a KD4NEA - Richard but no other info.  Finally, there might have
been a KN6 call who was trying to get in.

If this is right, we might have actually had more than 50 stations trying to check in!
With band conditions rather good, perhaps we will have another good net later today
with Phil back as net control.

Thanks,

73

John, N6JW
