Sorry for the weak signal and RFI still plaguing my K3 and NCL-2000
combination. I am going through the wonderful document by Jim Brown, K9YC, in attempts to resolve the at present non-obvious problem!! I could hear a very weak DX station talking about the upcoming Elecraft Net prior to the appointed 1800 hour but conditions and noise made my reduced power signal too weak for many to hear. I had a few check-ins and will attach that later on...not at the home QTH at the moment. Had a VE3, FL, NE, and AZ operators check in. 73, Roger K7SJ K3 #75 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Roger, I cured my K3 totally by grounding the mic connector area of the board through a short copper foil to the cabinet screw in the front near the board. I'm slowly working on a web page about audio lines and I'll include some shots of what I did to my K3 mic connector area. http://www.w8ji.com/cables_and_wiring.htm 73 Tom ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Thanks Tom! My fingers are itching to grab my screwdriver, open her up, and
perform the procedure!! I have not yet looked at that issue and now remember that issue had been raised here on the reflector in the past. 73, Roger > > > Roger, > > I cured my K3 totally by grounding the mic connector area of the board > through a short copper foil to the cabinet screw in the front near the > board. > > I'm slowly working on a web page about audio lines and I'll include some > shots of what I did to my K3 mic connector area. > > http://www.w8ji.com/cables_and_wiring.htm > > 73 Tom > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Everything you need has already been documented by Elecraft: http://www.elecraft.com/K3/mods/K3_Application_Note_Front_Panel_Microphone_Grounding.pdf Paul, W9AC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
