I tuned in late 25-min after the hour and heard Phil very weakly and
the station in CA that often assists was also not strong so I decided
not trying to check-in.  I usually receive Phil about S7+ on my K3 +
Hygain Th3mk4.

This coming Sunday I will hopefully be chasing 1296 eme signals so
probably not be available to check-in.

Does anyone know of a nice software app for creating and printing QSL cards on Mac computers?  Thank you.

RUMlog will print QSL information which can be formated for
stick on labels which can be pasted onto QSL cards.

When I make special QSLs for things like my trip east through
Newfoundland and Labrador, I use Photoshop. I make a 3.5 x 5.5
inch image for each card which includes the details of the QSO.
I then take them to the 1 hour photo printer and get 4 x 6 inch
prints which I trim down for mailing. A bit of work, but well
worth it for those who, like me, consider QSLs to be an art form.

Cheers - Bill, AE6JV

I use DXlab software, which can print the card and/or the QSO labels (which I use) the envelopes and/or address labels. All within fusion. Or you can use bootcamp to run windows on the mac

Hi Phil,

If you have Libre Office, MS Office, or some similar suite with a
drawing or Power Point-like program, you can whip up some nice looking
QSLs fairly easily. I've designed mine with Libre Office (open-source,
free, and available for OS X), and print out the cards on card stock I
buy from Staples.

With best regards,

Pete

Re: QSL software for Macs

Lewis Phelps
In reply to this post by Phil Shepard
MacLoggerDX, which IMHO is far and away the best logging and rig control software available for the Mac OS X platform, generates QSL cards directly from the log entries. You link it to a picture, and it lets you select several design options (e.g. print is boack or reversed out (white), and cal sign at top or bottom.  It's important, for it to work well,to provide a photo that has the same proportions as the card itself. Otherwise it will stretch the image to fit, and you end up looking like something from a funhouse mirror.

It's also easy to create QSL cards using any modern word processor. As a Mac user, I prefer Pages to Micro$oft Word for manipulating graphics, but YMMV.

The nice thing about MacLoggerDX is that you only have to type the QSO information once -- into the program's log -- and not a second time into a separate QSL card program.

See you on the net in a few minutes.

Phil,

There is an Apple program called "Pages" that can be used to make QSL cards.  It has two modes:  Word Processing and Page Layout.  Using the Page Layout, you can position photos and text however you want on a 4x6 or whatever size card.  It is available at the App Store for $20.
