Try this with your YaeComWood service dept.
Last night I noticed that my Sub RX would not work on 12 or 10 meters. When the Sub was switched on I would get an ERR-PLL in the B VFO on one of my K3s. I did a check on the other K3 and it worked fine on all bands. A quick look at the manual said that I probably had an issue with my KSYN3 module. When pushing DISP and looking at PLL2 I had a PLL2 *7.5 in the B VFO. This indicated an over voltage situation. Well, as it only occurred on 10 and 12 I did not want to start moving boards around, so I did all the appropriate calibrations. 10 meters started to work, but 12 was still failing. This morning at 06:54 eastern time I sent an email off to Elecraft-Support. At 13:35 I received a response with a suggested plan of action, specifically to install a 180K resistor on the KSYN3 board. I finished that at about 15:00 and now BOTH K3s work fine. Total elapsed time from request for service to resolution = 8 hrs and 1 ½ of those were caused by me not starting the fix when I received the email. Subtract a few more hours for time zones and the start of the 'typical' work day. 8 - 1.5 - 2 = an elapsed time of about 4.5 hours. Once again - OUTSTANDING service from Aptos and Gary Surrency. 73, Bruce - N1LN K3 # 1062 K3 # 1193 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Elecraft's service is second to none. I've had emails answered on weekends, holidays and evenings. I'm not so thrilled with the three hardware failures I've had. One was fixed under warranty (KXV3 issue), one I fixed myself (ATU issue) and the third is going to be $66 for the part (VFO B encoder) since I'm out of warranty. A great radio, but it hasn't been reliable for me.
