Elecraft kits make great gifts...updated buying guide now available

Thinking about buying someone an Elecraft kit this holiday season?
Hoping someone might be ordering one for you? Either way, please check
out our concise guide to Elecraft products. You can reach it from our
home page, or click on the link below:

   http://www.elecraft.com/buyers_guide/Elecraft%20Options6.htm

This guide is written for non-technical people, offering useful product
descriptions to help them figure out what a ham might want -- and why!
At the end, there's a product check-list with prices discretely
removed. We must have been busy over the past year, since the
check-list no longer fits on a single page  :)

To simplify printing, a .pdf version is provided. This link appears at
the top of the buyer's guide page.

Unless there's an amplifier on that list somewhere, I've done bought all the
Elecraft gear I want. Santa's going to have to look somewhere else. :-)

Having just started with the KX-1 kit I realise that what I need more than
anything is the eyesight I had 25 years ago. So maybe a gift certificate for
a few replacement body parts would not go amiss.

Oh how small the 1/4 watt resistors have become; they just don't use the
same quality colour paint that they used to.

At least I have a very well equipped shack with good German tools,
especially the Weller iron and PCB holder. And without the magnifying lamp I
would be well and truly upstream without a paddle.

It was so much easier in the old days. Maybe the K3 should be a nostalgia
radio, 40 lbs in weight using pure value technology :-)

RE: Elecraft kits make great gifts...updatedbuyingguidenow available

Ron D'Eau Claire-2
How true, Simon! Not only do modern coatings skew the paint colors, there
were very few 1/8 watt resistors in the 50's as well.

40 lbs of pure "valve" technology? Now you know why so-called "boat anchors"
are so popular, at least here in the USA!

For the eyes, I live by my Opti-Visor. I find that a true binocular
magnifier is far superior to a single-lens magnifier.

It's easy to forget I'm wearing it.

I try to forget that at one time I could see that well without any help.
