Greetings fellow Elecrafters,
Somehow I have ended up with a bunch of brand-new Yuasa 12v 0.8 amp-hour gel cells (well, I got them at a GOOD price). Each battery is about the size of a pack of playing cards and weighs just over 11 oz. They are approximately 3-3/4" wide x 2-3/8" high x 1" deep, with a 3/8" overhand on one side for the connector wire (red and black wires that end in a 'Mate-n-Lok' plug similar to, if not identical to, that used to plug in the K2's optional internal battery). I use these as portable power packs for my HTs (I run two in parallel), by replacing the plug with Anderson Powerpole connectors (I have a Powerpole to circular plug adapter made up for my HTs). Why do I like these over AA battery packs? They're cheap, they're rugged, it's hard to lose one battery (and thus you can't get full voltage), and they're easy to charge... just hook 'em up to your cigarette lighter outlet in your car, a cheap 12v solar panel, or to your shack's 12v (13.8v) power supply. Of course, you can use any battery charger designed for 12v gel cells with them also. They would make GREAT batteries for the KX1 and K1 units, and of course they'll work with the K2 also. They also work great as power packs for any HT or portable QRP rig that can run off of 12v, or do what I've done and put a few diodes in line to step down the voltage to work with units like the Icom T90A. A clever ham (redundant term) should be able to do lots of creative things with these batteries (make power packs for PDAs, cell phones, GPSs, etc.). I have around 140 give or take, and they're first-come, first served. When I run out, I'll post back on the reflector and I'll refund any payments that I can't ship to (I'm a verified PayPal'er, with more than 100 satisfied customers, and you can get my home address via my callsign). I guarantee these batteries will work, hold a charge, and are BRAND-NEW and unused, or I'll refund your money. These list for $16.95 each at Mouser Electronics (the Power-Sonic brand equivalent). I'm selling them for $6 each (that's almost $11 LOWER than Mouser's price), or $10 for two ($5 each, $12 less than Mouser's price), plus $4 shipping (for one OR two batteries) to your continental US address via USPS Priority Mail. You can pay me via PayPal at kd7kgx at arrl.net, and I'll ship within 24 hours of receiving your payment. Thanks for your time and 73, - jgc John Clifford KD7KGX Elecraft K2 #1678 /KSB2/KIO2/KBT2/KAT2/KNB2/KAF2/KPA100 Ten-Tec Omni VI/Opt1, Centaur, 238B Alinco DR-605TQ, DJ-V5 Icom T90A IRLP #3978 email: [hidden email] _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
