FT-7

John Gabbard-2
Does anyone have any comments on this radio,pro or con? I just bought a
non-working one and wondered if there are any interesting mods,I have
checked he web but haven't found much.any help is appreciated. Thanks, John

I bought one at a hamfest 20 years ago.  I've still got it, but in storage
somewhere.

It's pretty large for its power level (10 watts, IIRC).

It should be easy to work on, since there are no ICs, and most of the PCBs
can be easily pulled out of the rig.

It doesn't draw a lot of power on receive, and much of what it does draw
goes to the dial and panel lamps.  I put in some resistance to cut that down
significantly.

It first came out in 1978, and was one of the early all solid state HF rigs
from Japan.

perhaps you overlooked the site www.mods.dk It has an article about this rig
(but also a lot of others); it sugest several points to be improved.
