FW: 80m "Reflector" problem

Dan Barker
I just fired off a bunch of tripple-gallon (15 W) dits on 3505. No echos
heard from Northwest Georgia.

Anyone else hear it? Let's see if it's localized. I'm at N 34 54 22 W 85 26
21.

Dan / WG4S / K2 #2456

<snip>
I can hear it all the time now on 80m, at least for the past three days.
</snip>

If you can run more power, today I am hearing it with the amp on at about
1000w.  I can also hear it faintly at 100w.

Re: 80m "Reflector" problem

Jim Wiley-2
Just a note -

I tried 3505 here for a while using 1.5 KW - no echoes.  Antenna is an
open-wire fed inverted vee, 105 ft/leg., up about 75Ft. at the middle,
15 Ft. at the ends.

However, there isn't much in the way of "night" up this way at this time
of year.  Sunset is about 11:30 PM, with sunrise about 2 hours later.
It doesn't get truly dark - just a sort of twilight between sunset and
sunrise.  It would be interesting to see what time of day you guys were
hearing the LDEs.

I am on 3785 sending dots.  I am getting s9 echo's and instead of only three
reflected dots, I am getting up to 6 at 12wpm keying speed.
