Hello,
Last week's FYBO contest was a lot of fun. I went with Mark, NK8Q to the
Appalachian Trail just North of Rte 501 in PA. It was a short hike about 1/2
to 3/4 of a mile to a camp site with plenty of trees for cover. As soon as
we arrived we made a camp fire, place to warm the toes when they are cold.
I was using my K1 and a vertical. I started out on 15 meters and making a
quick QSO with
KK6MC in NM. Thanks Mark, new state for me from the AT. Not working anyone
else on 15m I moved to 40m to catch the close states. Made 6 Q's on 40m and
then I made 13 QSO's on 20 meters.
I had a great time FYBO'ing at temps. from 20 to 16'F.
Mark and I had a Cold Blast during the FYBO 2007. Afterward we headed to a
pizza shop for some cold beer and pizza.
I am closing in on my 800th QSO from the Appalachian Trail and I only need 5
more States for WAS from the trail.
Until next time on the air.
72 and Thanks,
Ron Polityka
