Many of us look forward to FD all year. It's hard to explain, but
stringing up a questionable portable antenna and seeing what you can work is a real rush. Getting outdoors and playing radio makes even stale potato chips taste good. Small mammals and insects will visit you to see if they can help in any way (usually not). I hope you all get out there with your E-rigs (or whatever!) and get on the air, even if only for a few hours, even if just on your back patio. Last year I did a solo backpacking field day using my KX1 (S/N 0001). Here's a photo of my campsite, including roll-up table and chair. Also note the expensive Micro-brew and trail mix -- both required items for a Northern California FD operation, by state law: http://home.comcast.net/~wayneb74/wayne/N6KR_FD_2005.jpg If you're mounting a small QRP Field-Day operation, you may find my mini-log and dupe sheets useful. Together, they fit nicely on a single 8.5 x 11" clip board, reducing required table space. The top third of the clip-board space is used for a stack of log sheets, and the bottom two-thirds is occupied by the dupe sheet. Microsoft Word files for these are at: http://home.comcast.net/~wayneb74/wayne/FD_mini_log.doc http://home.comcast.net/~wayneb74/wayne/FD_mini_dupe_sheet.doc Using Word, you can modify the rows in the dupe sheet to match your anticipated QSOs per call area. For example, in my case I made the "6" and "7" call area rows taller than the others. The dupe sheets are adequate for small FD operations, but you'll need to write small (I suggest using pencil, too). The log sheets each have room for 20 QSOs, plus a scratch area at the right. The dupe sheet includes one page of log at the top. Cut the log sheets into three strips as indicated by the lines below the log entry area. Next, stack the log sheets at the top of the dupe sheet, and slip the whole thing onto a clip board. Feel free to modify and use these files as you wish. See (hear) you on Saturday! 73, Wayne N6KR --- http://www.elecraft.com _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Thanks, Wayne. My XYL and I will be operating 1B-battery (plus solar panel)
from western Oregon with my K2 and a bunch of wire hung in the tall fir trees. Hope to hear lots of you with your Elecraft rigs on the air. 73, Phil NS7P -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]]On Behalf Of wayne burdick Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2006 9:35 PM To: Elecraft Reflector Subject: [Elecraft] Field Day inspirational message;mini-log/mini-dupe sheets for FD Many of us look forward to FD all year.
