I operated my K2 odd the back patio (blessedly screened) here in central
NC. Operation was hampered by some very threatening weather, requiring some
quick antenna disconnects when the thunder started rumbling nearby.
I guess I operated about 10 or 12 hrs in class 1B Battery single op CW only.
Antenna was about 140 feet of wire launched over a 60' pine tree for the
occasion, with two 20m, 2 40m and 2 80m 1/4 wave radials connected directly
to the tuner. speaking of tuner, I started out using a z-11 tuner, but
found out that after logging the settings that it was actually faster to
use my $10 cheapie beater MFJ tuner which had the added benefit of matching
the random wire on 80m...a trick that the LDG couldnt do. Live and learn,
but sometime simple is best.
Conditions werent the best (Lots of QRN from all the storms on the east
coast).

those filter settings that always seem too tight throughout the year never
seem narrow enough during Field Day?
Thanks to all the great ops with good ears
