Filter help

W4RM
I just install filters in my sub receiver to match my main receiver (1.8,
1.0 and 400Hz).  I have configured them using the K3 utility SW program and
it looks like they are set correctly in the program.  So now how do I make
the sub receiver track the filter setting of the main receiver?  I.E. if I
go to CW and select the FL4 400 HZ filter on the main receiver the SUB
receiver doesn't  sound like the filter is selected.  Same case in SSB with
1.8khz filter.  Also I don't understand how to manually select a filter on
the sub receive like I can on the main receiver using the XFIL button.

Any help would be great.

Re: Filter help

Doug Joyce
Hi Bill:  To transfer the settings from the frequency from the main Rx to
the Sub Rx just press A>B.  To transfer all the other relevant setting press
the A>B button again right after the first time.  (see VFO Controlls (Upper
Row) on pg 15 of the IB.  To do the filter selection in the Sub Rx using the
XFIL button, hold the B Set and then use the XFIL to make the filter changes
in the Sub Rx. (same IB reference).

SubRX filtering will also track the mainRX filters if diversity is
switched on.

Re: Filter help

N5GE
Arie,

Changing the filter width in the Main RX does not change the filter
width in the SUB RX.

To change the filter width in the SUB RX you must HOLD the B SET
button.  You will see B SET displayed in the display.  Using the same
method as with the MAIN RX adjust the width and then HOLD the B SET
button again and you will have the SUB RX Filter that you want.

When working split with the K3, I usually set the SUB RX filter a
little wider than the MAIN RX filter, so I can hear more band width
in a pile up

Re: Filter help

Arie Kleingeld PA3A-2
Hi Tom,

Besides the usual methods to change the BW of the Sub RX (in case of
working split with subRX on, or just monitoring two freqs), in my
comment I just added one more case where the subRX BW changes :-)

When diversity is switched on, SubRX BW does track the main RX BW. Use
diversity a lot in contests and that nice K3 feature is super when I'm
just listening to (and not participating in) a pile up.
