Hi
I am not going to admit to doing this, but if you ever reach the end of
Stage 2 of assembly and the tests all come out fine. You do the CAL PLL
after putting in the suggested BFO settings and then run it up on
Spectrogram to check it, and HORRORS....the audio level is different
between each filter, starting off low with the widest one and getting
louder with as the filets are narrowed.
The "S" meter shows the same level though, so the problem must be in the
2nd Xtal filter. Right?
In fact it is...........if you put D39 around the wrong way you get exactly
these symptoms. [sigh] (and the builder was being *so* careful)..........
One to watch out for anyway, as D39 is the opposite way around to the
similar type varactor you just put in.
Cheers.......Ron ZL1TW
