Doug http://www.ac6rm.net/mailarchive/html/elecraft-list/2007-05/msg00999.html __________ Doug and all, Actually, I think your first link told everyone what they really needed to know. If you ordered on or before 5/14 you should be in the first run. But I wouldn't plan on getting a first run order right after July 1st. My guess it will be somewhat later in July before they really start shipping, and then it will be a few at a time. I suppose they need to do some final checking, etc. as they go out the door. As to totals, I don't think Wayne or Eric want to disclose that for various reasons, but we know they initially planned on 200 per run, and then increased it. Somebody speculated the new number was 220, but I don't think that makes sense intuitively. Since they indicated they increased both the 1st and 2nd runs, that suggest to me that orders were very much stronger than anticipated, and a 10% increase doesn't seem logical. I'm betting it was much more than that, but how much I could only guess. Something like 20% to 50% would seem more logical (maybe even more), depending on production capacity. Perhaps not for both runs, but who knows? If you had been in the demonstration room at Dayton on Thursday night, you would get a pretty good idea that interest was very strong, not to mention all the interest shown here on the reflector. It seems like every other person I talk to has either ordered one already, or is wrestling with their pocket book about doing so. Anyway, we will get a better idea of the number soon enough when folks start posting their serial numbers! It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they sold 1,000 of them by Christmas! The real question is can they deliver that many! In the meantime, those of us who have ordered need to go on a valium drip! I hope we can refrain from 1000 "I got mine" messages.

No doubt someone will create contests....we should be able to award a certificate to the person with the lowest serial number who gets their unit the earliest. A committe must be created to evaluate whether serial number 0005 received on day 4 is better than/equal to serial number 0010 received on day 2. In the above example, both units would have a serial/delievery value of 20, thus requiring a third factor. Perhaps a third variable could be time-on-air-after-delivery, but a handicap for homebuilt versus factory assembled units would have to be established.
