Fldigi Software and Hardware Settings for K3

Frank MacDonell
Can anyone advise me of the proper settings in the software to get
Fldigi up and running? Also, should I be in FSK D Data Mode? Thank you
for your time.

If your using a sound card and PC you need to be in Data A mode on the K3.
FLDigi will NOT do FSK mode unless something has changed in the last 3
months.
It does have a "pseudo FSK mode" which you may get to work but it's not
for newby's.
Other than that FLDigi sets up just like any other multi mode digital
program.

Frank,

K3 runs the NBEMS software including the Flarq just fine.  Data mode A of course.  There are startup instructions in the manual.  Run your sound card audio in and out to the corresponding Line out and in on the K3.  Start with Line level at about 30 and adjust for your best mileage.  I use VOX for transmit I believe, but am not in front of the setup right now.  Drop me an email if you can't get it going, I am gud on QRZ.

No need to use VOX when you have a serial connection to your K3 for firnware updating. Just download the K3 XML file from http://www.w1hkj.com/xmlarchives.html and save it to the fldigi files folder, go into the configuration and select the RigCat option, select this file, set the com port and baud rate and select RigCat PTT. Click Initialize and you should see the frequency and mode come up on the Fldigi display. If so, you're good to go.
