I am the original owner/builder of this K2, s/n 3862. My initial vocation
was as an
electronic technician, so I consider this unit to be professionally-built.
It is fully
aligned.
What makes this K2 unique? I incorporated a Micro M+ solar charge controller
into the top
cover of the K2, so all you have to do is plug the 10-watt solar panel
(included)
directly into the rear panel and you can operate for as long as the sun
shines, and then
a bit longer! The Micro M+ was featured in the October 2001 QST and in
subsequent ARRL
Handbooks. It produces no RFI whatsoever. Please note that the solar panel
is the *only*
means of charging the internal KBT2 gel-cell battery, so to preserve the
battery life you
should "top it off" once a month -- this usually only takes a minute or two
in direct
sunshine. I used the existing transverter option holes in the rear panel to
accommodate
the charging jack and the charge status LED.
The front panel is blemish-free, while the top and side panels exhibit very
minor
scratches and scuff marks. The following are included:
* KSB2 SSB option
* KIO2 RS232 serial I/O
* KBT2 internal battery option (modified) (the battery was replaced once)
* KNB2 noise blanker
* KAT2 automatic antenna tuner
* Rugged stainless steel 10 watt solar panel with 16-foot cable
* All manuals and the RF probe.
Price: $870, exclusive of shipping (will ship worldwide).
I also have an MH2 hand mic that I am willing to sell with the above for an
additional
$40. (Not for sale separately)
