Fuse req. for 12v 7ah battery?

Gio
Good Day Everyone,

I want to use a 12v 7ah gel cell to power my KX1. I'm assuming that I need
some in-line protection between battery and rig. What size fuse is the
correct one for this application? (A kindly ham sent me this info a while
back, but his email has gone missing, and I don't want to rely on my
increasingly faulty memory).

Tnx es 73

John,

Yes, fuse it.   I have repaired several KX1s that were damaged by
excessive current through the PC traces.
I would suggest a fuse in the range if 2 to 5 amps.  3 amps should be
the ideal target.
